    If I was teaching a class on why people do what they do, this would be the text. This book covers that topic from a profoundly biblical perspective and gives the best solution on dealing with our desire for approval from others and our longing for acceptance. Many people are paralized by fear of rejection and this book gives a solid solution. (****)

    This book is shedding incredible light on the Disicplines explained by Foster. I wished I had read this one at least 2 decades earlier. It really gets to the heart of being like Christ. Going beyond externals and being like Him. Another must read for developing the life we all want to live. (****)

Conclave Today!

Today I get the honor to speak to Youth Pastors from all over the great state of TEXAS (Well...the 3 that will show up at my break out)!!  It's the opening day for CONCLAVE.  I used to go to this every year when I was living here.  It's such a great opportunity to be refreshed and equipped for the calling of reaching students with the life-changing power of the gospel.

I think I'm more excited about going that actually speaking.  I miss all the environments of Student Ministry and the crazy spirited comrades out in the trenches.  I'm not sure who will be coming to my breakout.  I looked at the list and I'm pretty sure I'd pick from several of the other speakers.  I've got the exciting topic of "Strategic Planning" and many of the others have already published books and travel the country speaking.  So, I'll probably get all the guys and gals that can't fit into the other rooms and hotels are too far away to go back and take a nap.  But it should be fun!  I like the intimacy of a small group and the dialogue we'll get to have. 

So say a prayer for me and all those who wander in to learn more about Strategic Planning!!  We'll need it!!
